Every bottle gets a second light.

Second Light Bottle Co. began with Mark & Kathy, who spend their days walking old riverbanks and creek beds across North Carolina — the coastal plain, the sandhills, the piedmont — places where a town once dumped its trash, a dock once stood, or a forgotten homestead sat a hundred years gone. Every bottle arrives caked in good Carolina dirt, and cleaning it by hand is where the real discovery happens: a dirt-crusted shape reveals itself to be a medicine bottle from a rural pharmacy, a milk bottle from a dairy long since closed, or a soda bottle embossed with the name of a town that scarcely exists anymore. It is our pleasure to give each bottle exactly what our name promises — a second light, cleaned up proper, researched with care, and ready for a good home.

Every riverbank, creek bed, and homestead we search is one we have the landowner’s permission to be on — that’s a rule, not a courtesy. We keep our own notes on where and when each bottle was recovered, so its history stays honest from the ground up.
